Trademark FAQs - related questions & answers

Question: What should I look for while searching for a logo?

Answer:
If your mark incorporates a design or logo you must search for trademarks that might be confusingly similar. Use the index in the back of the Design Code Manual to locate the appropriate six-digit code.

Question: How do I avoid expensive conflicts over trademarks on the Internet?

Answer:
Before a domain registration, be sure to do a Trademark Search, especially if it concerns fantasy names or a composite name derived from fantasy names.

Question: Does registering a trademark or service mark give exclusive rights to the mark?

Answer:
Registration in and of itself does not guarantee exclusive ownership of a mark. You would need to consult private legal counsel for an answer specific to your circumstance.
